Oscar Wilde on Conformity Card

Conformity here is choosing to follow what everyone else does, thinks, or expects, because it’s safer or easier than being original. Wilde is saying that when someone lacks imagination, they default to the “last refuge”, a final safe area, of doing the ordinary, rather than taking creative or independent paths.
